Wedding photographer cost in Toronto depends on how long the coverage is, how many locations and moments are covered, how much editing is done, what you receive and how the images may be used. Compare quotes by what they include, not by the number at the bottom, that's where the real story is. Pricing is shared on request.
So what actually drives the cost?
A quote is a description of a service with a number attached. If two quotes look far apart, they are usually describing different days. These are the factors that usually sit behind a quote:
- Length of coverage. A ceremony and portraits are a different job from a full day that starts with getting ready and ends with the last dance.
- Number of locations. Each move between places adds planning and time.
- Size of the guest list. More people means more groupings, more moments and more to keep track of.
- Number of photographers. Ask whether one person covers the day or whether there is a team, and what that means for the moments covered.
- An engagement session. Some photographers include one, others treat it as a separate booking.
- Level of editing. Light colour correction and detailed retouching are not the same amount of work.
- What you receive. The number of finished images, the format and how they are delivered.
- Usage. How the images may be used, for example personally, on social media or in print.
- Travel. Distance between locations and any travel needed on the day.
- Date and season. Popular dates and seasons are in higher demand, which can change what a photographer quotes. Toronto weather changes across the year, so agree on an indoor backup whatever the date.
What usually affects the price of any shoot also applies here: what is photographed, how many finished images, the length of the shoot, locations, people, styling, level of editing, how the content is used and how fast it is needed. <!-- F081 --> A wedding multiplies each of them.
Is 500 photos enough for a wedding?
The count alone does not decide it. A big number can mean many near-identical frames, and a smaller one can be a careful selection of the moments that matter. Neither is better by default. For example, two galleries of the same size can differ a lot: one covers the ceremony and portraits only, the other spreads the same number across a whole day.
Ask these three questions to compare any two counts:
- Near-identical frames or a selection? Does the number include several versions of the same moment, or one strong frame for each?
- The whole day or per hour? How long is the coverage, and which parts of the day does it include?
- Edited or all images? How many edited images do I receive, not just how many are taken, and are they a full gallery or a selection?
We do not give a number here, because the right answer depends on your day.
How do you compare wedding photography quotes fairly?
Put every quote into the same sheet, with one row per question, so you compare like for like. A low quote is not automatically the better choice, and a high one is not automatically better either. Look for what is missing.

A worked example
Here are two hypothetical quotes, described in words and with no numbers. They are not ours.
- Quote A covers the ceremony and portraits only, with one photographer, a selection of edited images and personal use.
- Quote B starts at getting ready, has two photographers, includes an engagement session and covers the whole day, with a full gallery.
Both are called "wedding photography". The rows that explain the difference are coverage, number of photographers, the engagement session and what you receive. If Quote B looks higher, the table shows why.
Lines that are often missing from a quote
- how the images may be used, and who owns them
- how and in what form the images are delivered
- what happens if you cancel or move the date
- the weather plan for the day
- what is not included
Style comes first. We suggest choosing a photographer by how well the style fits you and how clearly they explain the process. <!-- F092 --> Look at full galleries, not only highlights, and notice whether the photos show real moments as well as portraits. An engagement session is a gentle way to find out whether you like working together, and our engagement photoshoot ideas guide shows how to plan one.
Want a quote from us?
We photograph weddings and elopements around Toronto: real moments plus editorial-inspired portraits. <!-- F030 --> Pricing is shared on request. <!-- F012 --> The more clearly you describe the day, the more accurate any quote can be. Send:
- the date, or the dates you are considering
- the ceremony and reception places
- a rough timeline of the day
- a guest range, not an exact count
- the key moments you cannot miss, and the people
- the family groupings you want
- what you want to receive and how you plan to use it
Share a list of key moments and the day's timeline with your photographer. <!-- F088 --> It is also a good way to avoid surprises on the day.
Send us this list on Instagram. If you are planning a smaller ceremony, our guide to elopement packages covers what to ask. You can see how we describe the service on our wedding and elopement photography page.
Checklist: questions to ask before you book
Before you book any wedding photographer, ask:
- What exactly does the quote include, and what does it leave out?
- How long is the coverage, and what moments does it cover?
- How many photographers will be there?
- How many edited images do I receive, and how are they delivered?
- How may I use the images, and who owns them?
- Is an engagement session included?
- What are the deposit and payment terms?
- What happens if the date or weather changes, and what are the cancellation terms?
- Can I see full galleries from a day like mine?
- How do you want me to share the timeline and key moments?
Ready to ask about your date? We'd love to hear about it. Message us on Instagram with the date, the places, your timeline and the key moments, or use the contact page. You can also browse our photo sessions page.
Frequently asked questions
What affects the cost of a wedding photographer?
Coverage length, the number of locations and photographers, editing, what you receive, how the images may be used and the date. Ask each photographer to list what is included.
How do I send the timeline and key moments?
Write a short list of the moments you cannot miss, the people involved and the order of the day, with the places. Share it with your photographer well before the date.
Is tipping a wedding photographer expected?
It is optional and personal. Check your contract, and if you are unsure, ask your photographer.
